Little things can make a very BIG Difference

Today begins Breast Cancer Awareness month. As so many of you know I am a breast cancer survivor. I started my chemo 7 years ago this Oct 3 without a doubt it was one of the most difficult times of my life. I was scared, I felt alone (even though I was never alone, I always had my wonderful husband with me no matter what I was having done).
I wonder why me. I wanted to shout from the top of a building “doesn’t everyone know what I am going through? Stop what you are doing; life is not the same it will never be the same”. But the world just kept on going. The sun came up everyday and life went on.

But there was a time of the day that I always look forward to. Mail time. I loved getting cards and mail for my friends and family. It was a little sunshine in everyday for me.
And I got many. I got tons. I still have every one of them. I will still get them out occasionally and just look through them.
I received cards from people I had known all my life and cards from people I have still never meet. And they are all so very special to me, but for someone to take the time to send me a card that did not know me. That touched me. That touched me deeply and I have never forgotten it.

Because of this I would like to start collecting cards to give to the many women fighting breast cancer now, today, and the many days to come. I will make as many cards as I can but I also want to have many made by, you the wonderful, special followers of Pass It On. I will still be making cards to give you to pass on. But I’ll make two at a time. The other I will be adding to the collection to pass on to a breast cancer patient.

I still go to the same oncologist in the same building where I took chemo. I see many just like I was 7 years ago, going in there scared, feeling alone, wanting to just go home and for everything to be back to normal.

I can’t do that for them but with your help we can give them a little bit of sunshine to take home with them. We can let them know we are thinking of them during the very difficult time. We can let them know so many of us have been there and we made it through. And they will too.
And when they make it through they too can Pass It On to others.

These special ladies don’t need to hear from us during just during October because it is Breast Cancer awareness month they need to hear from us all year long, every year. And I have not done a good job with my part at all. But I am telling you today I want to do better.
Will you join me? It is a small thing I am doing, I know that but I remember 7 years later the small things done for me.

I hope you will join me in this fight. It’s a fight of a LIFEtime for so many people that woke up today. One out of every 8 of you reading this will be touched by Breast Cancer. Your life can change overnight with the 3 words “You have cancer”.

Our Family Fairy Tale

First to give you a little background…

Over 26 years ago we had a beautiful but very tiny set of twins, a 4lb 4oz little girl and a 4lb 9oz little boy. Our very tiny boy was extremely sick, and we were told his chances of living were much lower than our tiny baby girl. But they both were fighters. And almost 5 weeks later we brought them home.

They have continued to be fighters and have overcome any and all obstacles put in their path. Just as their siblings, they are both beautiful and wonderful adults today. Blessed to be their mother I almost burst with pride every time I look at any one of them.

That once 4lb baby boy is now a Sr. Airman in the USAF, and on September 6th, surrounded by his parents, siblings, new in-laws and a few close friends, married his sweetheart of 9 years in Manarola, Italy.

It is almost impossible to put into words the things I have seen, felt (emotionally and physically), experienced, received and given over the past two weeks. So the words will be few because in this case the old phrase "a picture is worth 1000 words" is so very true.

But I will give you a few words and thoughts to go with the pictures…

A new daughter!!!!!
All of my children under the same roof for days
New extended family
Many new friends
Florence
Cinque Terre
Manarola
Germany
Venice
Countless smiles and a great deal of laughter
Tears
Airplanes
Trains
Boats
Taxis
Fantastic food
Treasures to remember our trip
Italian words added to my vocabulary
Lost luggage
Lots of history seen and learned
Seeing new things through the eyes of my adorable granddaughters
New stamps on my passport
And many, many cherished memories

But then again as I said the pictures (in no special order) will do a much better job of helping you understand this chapter of our lives.

I know it has been forever since I have updated and given you sweet people any cards to pass on but it has been such a busy summer.

I have been so very blessed to be able to send many days with these sweet little faces.

But it is still never enough time with them!! I want them back as soon as they go home.

The two older ones have started back to school so our days will be only weekends now for a while.

We are getting ready to get not one but TWO new daughters-in-law around here. We have loved these girls for many years and now they are going to be real members of our growing family.

Both wedding are going to be so special and in special places But I am going to tell you about one wedding at a time.
I have been busy making shower invitations, wedding invitations and special reception invitations. Maybe I’ll post some pictures when all is over.

The first wedding is so soon that this week we all will be flying out for the private ceremony in Cinque Terre, Italy!!! We are excited to say the least.
This is my very handsome son and his beautiful soon to be bride.
Heavens we love her. Is she not just the prettiest little thing?

Well I need to work on the packing situation so that is all I have for you now but I wanted to tell everyone hello and let you know what I’ve been up to.
I’ll have more about the second wedding and pictures from the first wedding very soon.

Don’t forget to help make someone feel better and have a better day by encouraging them in some small way.

Memorial Day Weekend Bloghop for OWH

Before I was a military Mom I loved my country but that has a whole new meaning to me now that I have a son that works daily protecting our freedom.
He just returned home from his 2nd deployment. He is well, safe and back on a base in the States. That makes me one happy Mama.

He is the reason I make cards for OWH. Need I say more? Thank you to him and all the other many, many men and women just like him all over the world.

A reminder to you and me of why we have PASS IT ON

I am a SAHW/M (Stay at home wife and Mom) with a big focus on the STAY AT HOME because of several health problems that have become worse the past few years.
I love being a wife to the most wonderful husband anyone could ever ask for and children that are a blessing sent from God. But my husband works all day and my children are grown adults now with a life of there own.

I have always been taught that the Lord gives you gifts, talents and jobs to do to bring glory to His name. I worked with children for many years and know that was a gift the Lord gave me. But because of my health I can no longer do that.

I also believe that the Lord does not close a door without opening a window.
So I did some soul searching to find out what my open window was and
that is how PASS IT ON was born.

This is how PASS IT ON works…I design and create handmade cards that I post on my PASS IT ON blog. I post a card you leave comment. Some days there may be one comment some days there are 100 comments. But from those comments I use Random.org to pick a winner. I mail you the card absolutely free.

I mail you the blank card asking only one thing. That you open your heart to the Lord to know who He would have you send that card to… who needs an encouraging word? Who needs to know they are loved? Who need to know they were thought of and prayed for today?

There is a whole world out there that needs to know WE love Jesus and that Jesus loves them.

I know it is a small think, I know it is a VERY small thing but who said God can’t use small things??

Will you help me PASS IT ON?

Artful Legacy Card of the week

I made this Card for my DT for Artful Legacy.

Directions on making this card: I used He has Risen and Half Daisy both from Artful Legacy.

I stamped the Half Daisy using Chalk Box ink in chestnut brown.Coloring them with copic E47 and CTMH orange Z2338 and cut out.

I cut freehand the stem from brown paper.

He has Risen is stamped with StazOn ink in Pumpkin.

The paper for the background mat is from K & Company.

I used 3-d pop dots on two of the flowers and the white mat.

I picked the same He has Risen stamp that I used last week because I really want to show how you can use the same stamp in many ways and make totally different looking cards.

Always look for stamps you can use over and over again.

This is my reason for my great passion for OWH…

This is my middle son and he is in the USAF. Right now he is deployed to the Middle East. He has been gone too long and will be gone too long!! Although he is very homesick right now he loves his job. When he was leaving for this deployment his wonderful soon to be bride wrote something he said on their blog. “People have started to give him little going away presents. He shrugged his shoulders and said to me over the weekend, “I don’t know why people want to give me gifts. I’m just doing my job!” I can tell you he meant that whole heartedly! He is a true soldier!”

He is our hero in this family! If you see this son, we love you and miss you & are so very proud of you and what you are doing.

Well here is my card for the blog hop. It is really warm in my part of the wonderful south so it was very easy to get into making a spring card. I hope you like it.

An Easter Card for Artful Legacy

I took a 6x12 Kraft cardstock by Paper Reflections folded in half to make a 6X6 cardbase.
I used DCWV “The Doodlin’ Around” line of cardstock. I cut he green base to 2 ½ x 4 ¼ .
The yellow base 3 ½ x 5 and the lined side strip in 6 x 1 ¾.
I used this punch. It is a Scalloped Scallop Medium Edger Punch By EK Success
I cut out the cross with my Silhouette by Quickutz.
And the most important part is I used “He has Risen” on the outside and the “Happy Easter” stamp on the inside of the card from Artful Legacy.

So much news to share!!

I am not going to offer an apology for being away from the blog for so long because I have been so very busy!!

First off let me start by telling you I have been selected to be a member of the design team of Artful Legacy. I am so excited. Artful Legacy had a store in Myrtle Beach, SC and I loved visiting it any time I was luckily enough to be at the coast. But Christine and Buck, the owners, moved but still sell their wonderful stamps online. You will be seeing and hearing more about that very soon. This is the blog for the design team. I am on the team with some very talented ladies and love looking at all the great ideas they have.

So let me give you a very short list of where my time has gone…

My two younger sons painted the inside of my house and just finished this weekend. I am so excited. They did an incredible job. So I am now trying to get my house back in order. You know how long that takes. They painted every room in the house except two so that is a lot of stuff I need to sort through and put back.

We had company for while and that was so much fun and we were very sad to see her go. I am so proud to say she is one of my future daughter-in-laws! I am getting TWO new daughter-in-laws this year so there is a lot of wedding talk and planning going on around here. I am so excited. I could not have done a better job if I had handpicked both of these ladies myself. Boys you did a super job.

I have made three trips to the lower part of the state for this…

Yes, I know you have already seen pictures and you will be seeing more.

I have my 3rd granddaughter. As her Grammy I made the sacrifice of spending time with her and her family to help out. This was the best part of “helping out”

Ok so you know a little of why I have not been blogging and I want to ask do you blame me??

I am so glad you are here. I was asked to provide the sketch challenge for this week. It is my first time doing this so I was very nervous about doing it the right way. But Karen was so very kind and answered all my many questions. These are the samples I made from my sketch.

Thank you for you interest and work in Operation Write Home. I have a son that is deployed. He has received cards from OWH. He said they are a very welcomed sight in the Middle East and he and the other heroes there really enjoy getting them and then mailing them back home.

Operation Write Home

As many of you know I have a son in the USAF deployed to the Middle East. Because of that and other reasons I have a passion for Operation Write Home. We are a group of cardmakers that make cards for the military that are away from home. These are blank cards we make for them to send back home to their loved ones. So needless to say I am very excited there is a new blog with updates, information and challenges for the OWH cardmakers. This is our first challenge.... Make a card from this pattern.

These are the cards I made for the challenge. I made two that are a little different. But these and more will mailed off to OWH soon. Enjoy! If you want to see more look here.

Baby Girl Bedding

I am so excited I have finished my big project. I have just a few sneak pictures. This is what my dining room table looks like right now. It is full with sweet baby girl bedding that I made. Boy was it a project!! The first three pictures is the bedding for her crib. The last one is for her cradle that will be in the living room. It is all waiting to be packed up and taken to her new home. You can see other parts of her nursery here. We are getting very excited and ready to hold and love on our sweet new granddaughter.

How Great Is Our God

Someone in your life needs to know right now that our merciful, Almighty God loves them no matter what they have done. It is our job to tell them. This is one very small way to pass on the love of our Lord.

Hold Me Jesus

I am a breast cancer survivor, have fibromyalgia and a few other health difficulties. Because of that I have been through many surgeries, chemo, lots of medication and still have my share of pain. I have had many days when I knew I was about to face some medical test, treatment, or just waiting on test results that I didn't think I could stand much more.

Music is a big part of our family. Often a song will speak to me so deeply I feel like it is the voice of my Lord.
One such song is an older song by Rich Mullens, "Hold Me Jesus" and on many occasions it has has been my "theme song". So when I got this stamp in a set I knew I would use it often.

I am sure there are many people that feel the same way. Who would the Lord have you send this card to offer them comfort in their storm?

With Valentine’s Day coming up I have been thinking about love, the people I love and how important it is to tell them EVERYDAY that we love them. I hope you feel the same way.

Here is a card that will help you do just that. I purposely did not put anything about “Valentine’s Day” on it so you can use it before or even after the big love day.

Wouldn’t it be nice to send a card to someone who is having a hard time right now and needs to know they are loved? Or send some love to a family member you haven’t talked to in a long time but you want them to know they touched you life in a very positive way.
There are many people you need to tell that you love them.

Do you have someone that the Lord has put on you heart and may need an encouraging word. I would like to help you send that encouragement to them.

This card I made could be used to tell someone you love, how thankful you are for them or help them a have a bright spot in their day. It is blank inside for you to write the words the Lord puts on your heart.

Operation Write Home Blog Hop

Welcome to everyone that is here from the Operation Write Home (OWH) Blog Hop.

This is my first blog hop and I am more than excited.

I found OWH after my son made me a military mom. After you become a military mom some things that were small on your list become big on you list. When our son was deployed to Iraq, mail became a big thing on my list. I thought if I can get some of “home” to my son in the mail it would somehow make everything better. So I made a lot of visits to our post office.

If you talk to the many men or women serving in our armed forces they will tell you the connection to home is one of the most important things to them while they are away. That is what the OWH group is all about, making a big difference in a small way. CARDS. We not only send card to the soldiers to thank them and tell them we love them and are praying for them but the main job of this group is to make handmade cards for the soldiers to send back home to the ones they love. Read all about OWH here.

I hope by now you have a tug at you heart to want to help.

If you don’t craft you can still help just look here.
But more importantly one thing we can all do daily, PRAY for our HEROES and their family back home.

I have had a very busy and emotional weekend. Our son left Friday for his deployment. Please remember him and his flight in your prayers. We have been traveling all weekend and just got.

Do something for me if your children are close go hug them and tell them you love them and are very proud to be there parent. I wish my were here to do that.

Prayer Requests & Praise Reports added to blog

I have had people ask for us here on the PASS IT ON blog to pray for them or they have friends or family they would like to have prayed for. So I am adding a prayer request list on my blog. I will add a sidebar on the right. If you have special prayer request please email me and I will add the names and the information to this sidebar. I am a firm believer in prayer. The Lord hears our words and requests.

But I will also be adding a praise report list to the blog, also on the right sidebar. Because as much as I know God wants to hear our prayer request and will hear them. He also loves it when we tell him THANK YOU and praise Him no matter the answer of the prayer. And there will be one of 3 answers to our prayers from the heart... Yes, No or WAIT.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Phillipians 4:6

I have a new card for some lucky winner. I had Thanksgiving on my mind when I made it. But I think it can be used anytime because we need to be telling our loved ones how very thankful we are that the good Lord gave them to us to love.

I hope your weekend was a much fun as mine was. We got to spend the whole weekend with our grandchildren. They were so sweet, we had a wonderful time and did not want it to end. But they had to go back to school today so we had to return them to their mom and dad.

I have been praying for the Lord to use me in a new way. I feel that He has led me to this idea in hopes that lives will be touched by a very small thing in a very big way.

There are many hurting people out in our world who need to know someone cares. They need to know the love Jesus has for us and the love we have for Jesus.

I am asking you to go on this mission with me.

I’ll be making cards and posting them on this blog. You leave a comment. After the card has been up for a few days I’ll pick a random winner from the people that have left comments.

The card will be mailed to the random winner picked. And this is when you go to work.

Think and pray about who needs to receive this card with a special handwritten message from you. Maybe it will be a family member in the hospital, or a friend that has lost a job, someone who just found out they have cancer, a member of our troops serving around the world, a shut in. The list could go on and on and on.

This card will be handmade with love and free to you. Your job will be to PASS IT ON!
